“Today I lost a friend, mentor and confidant and I can’t express the sadness I feel. I recently spent a great couple of days with John, and I’m grateful for that opportunity. But to lose him at such a young age is very sad for me and the entire sports world. I’m appreciative of everything he did for me through the years, and my deepest sympathies go out to his wife, Wanda, and his children.”

I too grew up watching John Saunders on ESPN or any sports he was reporting on. Such an iconic face for ESPN! His smile, his laugh, and love for all sports, especially hockey, is what made him so special to watch. He was a Sports fan reporting on sports! What a guy! He will truly be missed and loved. One of the best if not the best reporters of our time!!!
