I am finishing up my last night here at Inside the NBA on TNT. I conducted a few tasks tonight: The first task that I completed was something that I surprisingly enjoyed – helping Charles pack for All-Star weekend. It was unexpected, and I got to get back to my fashion styling roots, something I used to do when I was an undergrad.
I then went on the set to teach Charles something in Spanish. Chuck had me hysterically laughing throughout the whole segment. I actually played a little joke on Chuck. He asked me to teach him “Charles Barkley is very handsome and Charles Barkley is very skinny.” Well, what I actually taught him in Spanish was “Charles Barkley is very ugly and Charles Barkley is very fat.” I have to give Chuck some credit because he knew that “gordo” means “fat” in Spanish, but I had to convince him otherwise.
Shortly after the Spanish lesson, I gave Chuck an early birthday gift. I got him an Auburn University golf set and he LOVED it. What actually touched me is that Charles took the time to read the card I wrote for him. After he read it he grabbed my hand and told me, “Thank you.”
I was floored. I was so honored that Chuck appreciated my words, my thoughts. That meant more to me than anything. Well, before I get too sentimental I want to thank Charles for being such a gracious boss, everyone that works for CharlesBarkley.com and everyone at Turner Broadcasting.
This was an amazing opportunity, and I will be forever grateful.
It’s A.P. again. If this is your first time on the blog then let me reintroduce myself: I am the winner of “Chuck’s Intern Contest,” and I am a public relations graduate student at Syracuse University. This past week has been amazing, a whirlwind. I received so much love and support from friends, family, and Inside fans! Everyone was asking me how Ernie, Kenny, Shaq and of course Chuck were in person. I honestly can tell you all they are amazing people. They were extremely kind, welcoming and my favorite attribute, humorous! I felt like I was part of the crew, not an intern but part of their team.
I also got Chuck an early birthday gift since I won’t be here when it is his actual birthday (February 20th for all of you who would like to know), so I hope he likes it. I haven’t seen him yet, as I am preparing for some of my nightly tasks. I am excited and a little sad since this will be my last night as Chuck’s intern. Overall, I am more overjoyed and channelling that energy into my work for tonight!
Talk to you all later,
